Daily Devotional
In John 16:33 we see; “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Trouble seems to be everywhere, and you don’t have to look very far to find it! Knowing Christ, and living in His salvation does not mean that you will never have any difficulty in life, but that relationship does provide a wonderful new prospective of how we handle them. The best thing about trouble is getting past it, and Jesus has set the way for you and me to circumvent it, and along the way, giving us peace!
My friend, realize that in every situation in life, Jesus has provided you a roadmap to success, because He has navigated the way for us, and now we can sit back and enjoy the trip.
Quote for the Day: ‘Trouble is always before us, how we handle it determines our disposition.’
From the Pastor:
I so enjoy the New Year, and the beginning of new things. If you’re like me, we make a great many mistakes, fail to follow through on some promises and forget important dates! But, the New Year brings the opportunity to begin a-fresh and put the past behind us. Yes, it is important to remember the mistakes of yesterday and to not allow those failures to hinder our new day, but the idea of new beginnings and placing our best foot forward is so refreshing,
The Apostle Paul, in writing to the church in Philippi, in the 3rd chapter, beginning at verse 12 says; “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected, but I press on that I may lay hold of that for which Christ has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” As Paul encourages us, through his own determination, we need to press on to the calling that God has for us. I’m so glad that God isn’t finished with me yet. The Lord has a plan and purpose for my life to be the man of God that He has ordained for me to be. Likewise, each of us as believers, must seek out and surrender to the calling that the Lord has for us as well. When we give ourselves to the Word, and fervently pray for guidance, God is faithful to show us His plan and desires. The question here is; will we be obedient to our responsibility of searching the Bible for the insight that the Lord desires to reveal to us, and are we faithful in prayer to listen when He speaks to us? The Scriptures encourage us to seek the Lord; (Jeremiah 33:3; Matthew 11:28 and 1 Peter 5:7), to diligently pray and believe that God has the answer we need and that He is faithful to do just
what He said He would do. We can take confidence in the fact that God will answer the prayer of a humble heart. The Word has the answers for your life’s questions. There isn’t anything beyond God’s capabilities, nor His interest in the life and welfare of His children. Knowing this truth, each of us can now step out in assurance, that when we place our hearts in God’s hands, He will lead and guide us on a pathway of success and victory. I don’t know about you, but I for one long to see a greater success factor evident in my life! I want to learn from my mistakes, for I don’t what those same mistakes to hinder what God can, and is willing to do in and through me! I want to discover the full potential, through the Holy Spirit, of what I can do and be for the Lord. I want to dedicate myself to a life of prayer; to the reading and studying of the Word every day. I long to enter into meaningful and personal relationship in worship with my Savior.
This is the dawn of a new day, and you and I need to press on, just like Paul, to the higher calling of Christ Jesus. We need to take hold of that which Jesus has taken hold of us. We need to diligently give ourselves to a life of purpose through the Word, and a life of prayer, centered in faith, recognizing that what God has begun in each of us, He is well able to complete. I’m not the same man I was yesterday, nor will I be the same man tomorrow! Each new day brings with it new possibilities! May I choose to discover, each day, what God already knows about me!
